ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
​
After studying graphic design at Randwick College I worked for many years as a professional illustrator in the advertising industry and have created works of every kind, from caricatures to portraits in a variety of media.
Specializing in portraiture, I have received many commissions, both local and international.
I have had several solo exhibitions – in and around Sydney and country New South Wales and also have taken part in many group exhibitions and art prizes
As well as portraiture, I have a background in commercial illustration – including TV storyboards, book illustration, cartoon and caricature.

I have always had a great love and respect for all animals, so I was very excited to hear about this wonderful project. The orang-utan is one of many endangered animals who need our help, so it is a privilege to play a very small part in their preservation

CERIA
​
The Irony of Joy
Ceria’s name means “happy” in Indonesian, but her early life told a very different story. Rescued on 7 March 2012 just 20 minutes from the IAR Ketapang Centre, this young female orangutan was found in the town of Mulia Baru, confined in a cage alongside chickens, a chain clamped around her neck. The owner’s shifting stories offered little clarity, but the telltale wear on her neck and her malnourished state told all we needed to know—Ceria had been held far longer than claimed.
Underweight, nervous, and clearly depressed, Ceria nonetheless showed signs of resilience. After completing her quarantine with flying colours, she joined the baby school playground. Though initially hesitant, her inner wild spirit began to emerge. She brought speed and agility to the group, climbing higher and faster than many of her peers.
Now thriving in forest school with other juveniles, Ceria continues to grow stronger and more confident. Her instinctive skills and wild nature give us hope that she may one day reclaim the freedom she was once denied.
