About Marion Wall
My journey with orangutans started in 1998 after a trip to Borneo to see the wild orangutan and the local rehabilitation centre in Sepilok. Observing first-hand the devastation of the orangutan habitat and meeting many orphaned orangutan in the rehabilitation centres I knew on my return to Australia that I had to research on how I could help them.
After over 17years with one Orangutan Charity and a career change into Vet nursing, I was drawn to a UK volunteer based charity group called Orangutan Veterinary Aid (OVAID). So after a discussion with Nigel and Sara, the Vet and Nurse Team Founders of OVAID I became the Australian Representative.
Over the last 8 years, my mission has been to raise funds for OVAID to support the vet teams in Sumatra and Borneo and to share Nigel and Sara’s commitment and appreciation of this critically endangered species.
Who would have thought with my first encounter in Borneo over 27 years ago, that my passion about their welfare and conservation would still be so strong?
“Having the experience of looking into the eyes of an Orangutan it can provide a humbling and emotional connection to one of the world’s most captivating animals.
Their love, happiness and sadness are laid bare as depicted in this amazing collection.”
Jess and I will provide this rare insight in the upcoming Art Exhibition as detailed.
In keeping with the theme all proceeds from the sale of artwork will be used to support the vital work of OVAID and IAR, ensuring that the Orangutans are not faced with the prospect of seeing their habitat vanish and being only remembered in picture and paint.
