OVAID

Orangutan Veterinary Aid (OVAID) is a voluntary run U.K. charity formed in 2014 to provide veterinary equipment, medicines and practical veterinary assistance to the veterinary teams of frontline orangutan rescue/rehabilitation groups in Indonesia and Malaysia. Through its direct actions OVAID ultimately improves orangutan welfare by assisting these veterinarians with the provision of up-skilling opportunities, scholarships, specialist training programs and in-situ practical workshops.
OVAID also considers it is vital to spread awareness of the negative effects of deforestation for the orangutan and other wildlife species, as well as indigenous populations, through public and academic presentations both in the U.K. and Internationally.

With a deep commitment to both animal welfare and conservation, OVAID is a beacon of hope for orangutans, ensuring they receive the care they need to survive and thrive in the wild.

I have great admiration for the tireless work of Nigel and Sara, co-founders of OVAID, who dedicate themselves day in and day out to this cause.
I first met them back in 2014, shortly after they had established OVAID as a charity, while we were all volunteering for six months at International Animal Rescue. Since then, they have donated over £500,000 worth of equipment to help vets in the field care for orangutans.
They have made multiple trips to Indonesia, delivering supplies and training staff. Their commitment ensures that donated funds are put to exceptional use, and I cannot think of a better charity to partner with for the Brisbane Exhibition - Orangutan in Art.
